Our CEO’s thesis “CPPS Concept and 2040 Manufacturing Vision” was published in the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.

The thesis co-authored by our CEO, Nakamura, was published in the June issue of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.

This paper is a presentation of the “CPPS Concept and 2040 Manufacturing Vision” formulation activities conducted at the “Connected Cyber Factory Research Subcommittee (CPPS)”. The research subcommittee specializes in research on CPS (Cyber Physical System) promoted by the government, particularly in the field of production systems.

The following, we will introduce an excerpt of the article.

In the activities to predict the future of the production system in 2040, considering the four viewpoints of “supply chain”, “engineering chain”, “production technology” and “people”, three WGs (“Supply Chain WG”, “Smart Machine WG”,”Human Centric  WG”). Each WG considered three types of manufacturing mobile phones. They are “Type 0:Development of conventional mass production type”, “Type 1: Mass customization”, and “Type 2: Thorough enhancement of individual correspondence”. This section describes the activities of the “Smart Machine WG” and“Human Centric WG”.

CPPS considered in this subcommittee is a space where physical production resources such as parts and machinerya nd equipment exist as equivalent information as a one-to-one relationship with physical space and physical machinery and equipment. Is defined as cyberspace. Machine assets, jigs, tools, parts, products, workers, transport devices, worker organization production assets, product design information, process design information, factory location plan, factory layout, supply chain design, etc. All other information representing the state of design information, production status, product traceability, quality, market requirements, expectations and satisfaction is defined as “CPPS individual”. In CPPS, CPPS objects in cyberspace are interconnected to eliminate various restrictions in future production systems, enabling “expanding scope and acquiring coupling dynamism”. When CPPS objects that are “real” in cyberspace can be edited, processed, and controlled according to their intention to handle the entire system, removing restrictions on their existence dimensions (heterogeneous attributes) and connection methods Think. In order to discuss various aspects of the scope covered by CPPS, this study subcommittee introduced the concept of the scope indicating the objects managed by cyber physical, which is defined as “CPPS management scope”.
